Little Big Planet Learning Center serves children 8 weeks to 5 yrs old. We also offer VPK and after-school program for children enrolled in surrounding Elementary schools. A summer program is also offer every year.
Little Big Planet implements The Creative Curriculum as a guideline for planning and implementing a developmentally appropriate curriculum. Its implementation help children acquire social/emotional, cognitive, communication and motor competences and the skills they need to succeed as learners. This curriculum is based on research and theories of child development and because of that children enrolled at Little Big Planet learn while playing.
Little Big Planet also recognize how infant/toddlers and preschool children are like in terms of their social/ emotional, physical, cognitive, and language development, and the characteristics and experiences that make each child unique. Therefore, we present our goals and objectives for children by observing children’s development and tracking their progress, and planning activities accordingly in relation to goals and objectives from Creative Curriculum.
The learning environment at Little Big Planet makes it possible for teachers to teach and children to learn. This include how teachers set up the interest areas, establish schedules and routines, organize choice times and small and large group times. The interest areas include Blocks, Dramatic play, Toys and Games, Art, Library, Discovery, Sand and Water, Music/ Movement, and Outdoors. The materials in the interest areas meet the developmental needs of young children and enhance learning and teaching in each of these interest areas. One of the goals of Little Big Planet is to create a classroom community where children learn how to get along with others and solve problems peacefully.
